After taking a time out in 2008. Alexander was back on the race track to share a Lamborghini Gallardo with his former team mate Jonathan Cochet not only in the Lamborghini Blancpain Supertrofeo but also in the FIA GT3 European Championship.

Although the Lamborghini Gallardo GT3, prepared by Reiter Engineering was very competitive in previous years, the team was not able to keep up with Audi and Aston Martin this season. After a violent accident (through no fault of his own) with a total loss of the car in the Portimao race, Alexander decided to retire from racing.
